Beermen try to extend win run vs Giants
The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - The reigning PBA champions go up against separate opponents today at the Araneta Coliseum with
one seeking to keep its hot streak going and the other hoping to arrest its slide.
Fiesta Cup title holder San Miguel Beer guns for a fifth straight win as it tangles with Purefoods while all-Filipino titlist Talk n
Text is out to stop a two-game losing skein as it tackles Coca-Cola.
The San Miguel-Purefoods match at 7:30 p.m. is a battle between two teams looking to imporve their stocks in the upper half
of the chart while the Talk n Text-Coke contest at 5 p.m. is a duel between ball clubs out to make progress from the lower
half of the standings.
The Beermen, among the tournament favorites, have gone on a rampage since starting the season with back-to-back
losses to the Barangay Ginebra Kings and the Alaska Milk Aces.
The Giants are just half-game behind the Beermen (4-2) at 3-2, winning their last game against the Tropang Texters.
Meanwhile, Talk n Text and Coca-Cola collide minus injured key players.
The Tropang Texters will be without Harvey Carey and Jared Dillinger while the Tigers will continue to miss the services of
main man Asi Taulava. Also doubtful starters for Coke are Dale Singson, Ken Bono and Chris Ross.
“I’m worried because Harvey and JD can’t play,” said coach Chot Reyes whose TnT team has lost its last two matches to
San Miguel and Purefoods.
