Alaska Milk tries to keep its immaculate record intact this Friday when the Aces battle Burger King in the KFC-PBA Philippine
Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The 5-0 Aces take on the Whopper at 5 p.m. after the 2:30 opener pitting Smart-Gilas against Coca-Cola. The main game at
7:30 will have Barangay Ginebra meeting Barako Bull.
Alaska coach Tim Cone said that even with the absence of a “true” superstar in their fold, the Whopper won’t be an easy prey.
“We know it’s not going to be an easy thing against Burger King,” Cone said after Alaska downed Sta. Lucia Realty, 91-83
Wednesday night for their fifth straight win.
“They (Whopper) just get under your skin. They play hard, they’re physical. Everybody knows that and they can really match
up. They are a blue-collar team,” Cone added.
Burger King coach Yeng Guiao said that beating an unbeaten teamwill be a big motivation for the Whopper.
“They are on a hot streak, it’s going to be difficult to stop their rampage,” Guiao said on the eve of the game. “I hope that they’
ll have a bad day one of these days, and I’m hoping that it will come tomorrow (Friday) when we face them.
“Beating an unbeaten team and the league-leader is additional motivation for us. We overhauled our offense and defense,
we’ll try to do something different. Medyo may mga iniba, we changed some patterns,” he added.
