Red Lions chase solo 2nd spot vs Knights
The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - The chase for Final Four incentives resumes today with San Beda seeking solo second against Letran
in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lions, currently at joint second with the Jose Rizal Bombers on 14-2 slates, are slightly favored over the Knights in their 4
p.m. encounter but the latter are going all out to close their elims campaign on a winning note.
Letran actually stunned erstwhile unbeaten San Sebastian with an 80-63 rout last week, foiling the Stags’ sweep bid for an
outright finals berth.
“It’s going to be a big game for us, Letran will play with a lot of
confidence after a big win against San Sebastian,” said San Beda
coach Frankie Lim.
He said for the Lions to duplicate their 79-74 victory over the Knights
in the first round last July 24, they have to execute their play patterns
well.
“We have to match their intensity, limit our turnovers, control the
boards,” he said.
