Game Today
(Araneta Coliseum)
7:30 p.m. -- PBA All-Star vs NBA Generations

THEY’RE old by the game’s standards, but Dominique Wilkins, Vlade Divac, Tim Hardaway and Robert Horry still want
to prove that age won’t matter when they challenge the best of the PBA -- past and present -- today.

The NBA Generations quintet showcases its talent in its final stop of its Asian Tour, going up against the PBA All-Stars
at the Araneta Coliseum in an exhibition match that’s expected to be fun and exciting.

Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Wilkins, Divac, Hardaway and Horry will be the ones who will be watched with keen interest, having been superstars
during their prime in the NBA and whether they still have the strength and skill to be competitive and display the
prowess they once possessed.

The fans are likely to witness dunks from Wilkins, the long bombs from Horry, the crossover moves from Hardaway at
the low-post plays from Divac. The NBA Generations team is mentored by Rory White with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the
NBA’s all-time leading scorer, being the celebrity coach.

“It’s going to be fun and exciting,” said Guiao, who recently coached Team Pilipinas in the FIBA-Asia Championship in
Tianjin, China. “I’m sure that they can still play the game, they can still run and shoot.”

“These are the guys who changed the game. I know these guys are not out of shape. They haven’t lost that
competitiveness but I’m sure it will be fun. We’ll try to be very competitive and we’ll try to beat them.”

Guiao said that facing the former NBA players is something that he too – as a coach – is excited to do.

“We will try to soak up the moment, enjoy the opportunity and store the memories that we’ll have in tomorrow’s game
(today). Ang malaking problema kasi (playing the NBA Generations), maski ako star-struck,” Guiao said.

The four former NBA players will have as teammates current NBDL stars, including onetime PBA import Russel
Robinson.

Forming Guiao’s All-Star team are four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Alvin Patrimonio, 1990 MVP Allan Caidic,
1989 Rookie-MVP Benjie Paras, 1998 MVP Kenneth Duremdes and former three-point king Ronnie Magsanoc.

Also included to the team are active players like Dondon Hontiveros, Marc Pingris, Jay-R Reyes, Arwind Santos, Asi
Taulava, Joachim Thoss, Rico Villanueva, Joseph Yeo and Wynne Arboleda.

Horry, also known as ‘Big Shot Bob’ for hitting the critical shots down stretch, is the one who retired most recently after
winning seven titles – three with the Los Angeles Lakers and two each with the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio
Spurs.

Abdul-Jabbar, who is in his fourth visit in the country but first since 1995 when he played an exhibition game together
with fellow LA Lakers superstar Earvin “Magic” Johnson, said that he’s looking forward  to a good game against the
Filipino players.

“We expect a good game. I really expect that -- a very good game, competitive and something the fans will enjoy,” said
the 62-year-old Jabbar Abdul-Jabbar, a 19-time All-Star who won six NBA championships and six season MVP awards.
